It takes faith.

It takes faith to live any life with even a modicum of satisfaction. To live a great life which honors God and brings Him glory, takes great faith. We have heard that over and over, yet often this is the very place where we need some work.

Okay, okay, we say. We know that. But how do we get more? And why does it seem to slip away so easily?

The answer to the latter question is simple. The world – the cosmos – the natural way of thinking is enmity against God. His Kingdom operates on such a different plane that we sometimes find it hard to think in Kingdom terms.

For instance, in the world, we say, “You have to see it to believe it.” In the Kingdom, the truth is that “You have to believe it to see it.”

The world says to grab hold of everything you can and hold on to it. God’s Kingdom says, “You have to give to receive.”

The world says that some of the diseases we see today are incurable, and we just have to face that fact. In the Kingdom, we realize that “Nothing is impossible with God.” He can cure all diseases.

So the world in which we live is constantly tugging on us to give up on our promises. To just accept the status quo and live with it. But God is saying something different.

There were two things which caused Jesus to marvel during His earthly ministry. One was great faith in people who were not Jews. The other was the doubt of those who were.

In Matthew 8:5-13, Jesus encountered a Roman officer – a centurion – who wanted Jesus to heal a servant who was paralyzed. Immediately Jesus offered to come, but the centurion objected, saying that he understood authority and knew that the very word spoken by Jesus would do the trick.

Jesus marveled, “Truly I say to you, I have not found such great faith with anyone in Israel…Go your way; and let it be done to you as you have believed.”

Would you like for Jesus to marvel at your faith? Would you like for Him to say, “Let it be done to you as you have believed?”

This is something to meditate on today. He delights in great faith, and He rewards it.

We will be talking about faith for the next few days. How we get it. What our faith accomplishes. And other aspects of faith.

In the meantime, know that Jesus loves you and wants to spend time with you.

He also wants to bless you more than you can imagine.

Forever Upward!
