White-Breasted Nuthatch-600We have begun our Journey To a Confident Prayer Life. We are starting with the very basics, yet everything we are covering is essential for a great prayer life. First we have to be honest with ourselves and determine where we are in our journey. Then we have to make sure that Jesus is truly our Lord. We want our eyes open to God’s plan and we can only do this if we do it His way. For our prayers to be answered the way we want we have to have faith in God, so every step we take is part of the process of building our faith.

After we have committed our lives to Him, we want to take some time to concentrate on His love for us as individuals. Our God is good – full of grace and mercy. We mustn’t think of His love as “generic’ love for everyone. It’s important to think of His love for us personally. He is a personal, one-on-one God, and His plans for us are good, merciful plans. He is always for us, bringing us into a blessed life. When we fall into trouble or make mistakes, He is the one who helps us to climb out and try again – always empowering us to do better next time.

James 1:16-17  Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow.

He doesn’t vary His plans from good to bad. All of His plans are good, and all good is from Him. He never varies in that.

John 10:10  (Jesus said) The thief comes only to steal, and kill, and destroy; I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.

There is a thief here (the devil) who tries to bring you harm. God only brings good, abundant life.

Jeremiah 33:11  Give thanks to the lord of hosts, for the Lord is good.

One reason that it is so important to know the character of God, is that for our prayers to have power, we must trust Him. There are so many doctrines around which accuse God falsely. It’s imperative for us to go by the word of God if we want to know Him. To know Him is to love Him, to trust Him, and to have faith in Him.

When we realize that simple truth that God loves us – in spite of ourselves- we take giant steps into the deeper water. We should take some time to think about ourselves as God’s handiwork-authentic and original. We are each one of a kind, and He loves us that way. We are some of His favorites, and so are those around us.

Today, spend some time with God meditating on His love for you. You are truly special in His eyes, and He wants you to know that. Meditate on these verses and on Psalm 139. I pray that your faith in His love for you will increase tremendously.

Blessings. I’ll see you soon.
