Day 28 28 Days To Confidence In Prayer
Well today is the last day of our 28 day Prayer Journey. I have really enjoyed it and hope you have also. Thanks for all the comments and emails. I am always happy to hear your ideas. As we share with each other, all of us benefit.
I would like to recap some of the highlights of the trip. At the very beginning, we compared our journey with the Ezekiel 47 vision of water flowing from the temple. As the Holy Spirit flowed from God’s altar, the water became deeper and deeper until it was a river where you had to swim. (Your feet couldn’t touch bottom). In the same way, as we are willing to step out into deeper knowledge and commitment, we see ourselves growing in the power of our prayers.
So the foundation of our prayer was in the very shallow water where we were born again and committed our lives to the Lord. Then we reminded ourselves of the significance of the Bible – that it is God-inspired and true, containing wisdom and secrets which can only be revealed to us by God Himself.
As we delved into the secrets, we saw where God put man on the earth to take dominion (rule) over the forces of darkness which were on the earth. The dominion was lost when man sinned, but regained through Jesus, for those who believe in Him and yield themselves to Him. This dominion is enforced through the spoken word, by commanding God’s will. Now as we ask God for His Word to be done and speak it into the atmosphere, we will see changes come to all of those around us. Hence we are praying according to God’s will, and we can expect great things to happen.
We saw where God cut a covenant with Abraham, which was eventually to bring forth our Savior, Jesus. And we saw that Galatians 3:13,14 shows us that the covenant is now for us also. The covenant, which is revealed in Deuteronomy 28, is full of promises for our provision, our health, and our families. All of those promises are for us, if we are walking in obedience to our Lord and appropriating God’s best through faith and patience.
During the third week we talked about the Holy Spirit and His importance in our prayer life. When Jesus ascended to heaven, he sent the Holy Spirit to live in our hearts – to lead us and guide us into truth and to empower our prayers. The more we yield to Him, the more understanding comes to us and the more success we have in our prayers.
Then we saw that whom the Lord loves He corrects. We took some time to search our hearts and deal with any hidden sin in our lives. We especially wanted to deal with pride and unforgiveness, knowing that these attitudes will hinder our effectiveness.
We have covered a lot of ground! We could write a book about any of these topics, so we really hit the highlights of each one. But I hope that you have been encouraged, as I have, in remembering the big picture of our redemption and what it means. The power of redemption is especially manifested in our prayer power. If we keep all of these markers in mind, our faith will rise, and our prayers will bring miracles on the scene.
So now life goes on and the journey continues. There is always more to learn and more to do. There is always a closer walk with our Father available. There is always a higher mark he beckons us to reach.
As we look into the future, let’s let our eyes focus on God’s best for us, our families, and our communities. He has magnificent plans for us if we don’t give up. Let’s walk with patience, perseverance, and joy. Let’s embrace our future! We are making a difference. Our prayers are making a difference!
My prayer today is that you will feel more confident in your prayers. As you continue to let God speak to you personally, and as you obey His leading, your faith and confidence will continue to grow.
